But many years before that, Mahesh Babu was approached by another Kollywood director for a bilingual movie. The filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, who is well known for romantic movies in South India, approached Mahesh Babu in 2009 for a film, and the superstar rejected it in return. Why? Mahesh Babu was approached by Gautham Menon to play the role of Karthik in Ye Maya Chesave. It’s the lead role. Gautham Menon first approached Manjula and asked her if he could narrate the script to Mahesh Babu. Manjula was not sure whether Mahesh would accept the film, but sent Gautham to him to narrate the story. Mahesh Babu loved the script but rejected doing it, saying that his fans have certain expectations of him, especially when making a film with a versatile director like Gautham Vasudev Menon. Mahesh Babu asked Gautham Menon to come up with an action film story so that they could work together. Gautham Menon accepted Mahesh’s offer in return and placed it in his line-up next to Ye Maya Chesave. He later made Ye Maya Chesave with Naga Chaitanya. Unfortunately, both Mahesh Babu and Gautham Menon were bound to their respective commitments later, and the duo’s project did not go on board.
Gautham Menon shared this entire incident with the Telugu media recently during the promotion of his latest movie, The Life Of Muthu. He also stated that he still wishes to collaborate with the superstar. After knowing about this, even the superstar fans wish the same. But with Mahesh Babu currently having a film with SS Rajamouli in his lineup, it is not possible for the duo of Mahesh Babu and Gautham Menon to make a film together in the near future.
