Lata Mangeshkar and her sister Asha Bhosle took up singing as their professional career to carry forward their father’s legacy.
Lata recorded her first song for the film Kiti Hasaal in 1942 but unfortunately, the song was removed in the film’s final cut.
Lata fainted once while recording a song for a film in Mumbai. Then she took some rest for a while and continued the recording.
Lata did not used to listen to her songs. She felt that she would find many mistakes in her own recordings.
Lata was once poisoned intentionally by someone without knowing her in 1962. She was in bed for 3 months then and later she recovered slowly from that.
Lata’s favorite music director was Madan Mohan. She also had a special bond with him like a sister.
Lata served as a Member Of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from 1999 to 2005.
Lata was the first ever Indian singer to perform in the prestigious Royal Albert Hall of London.

Lata’s last song Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki was recorded in 2019 as a tribute to the Indian Army.
