Samantha started out her career with the romantic hit Ye Maaya Chesave (2010.) Since then, Samantha has grown tremendously as an actress and is now doling out powerful performances. Her Hindi and digital debut with the web series as Raji, in The Family Man Season 2 received rave reviews by both critics and non critics alike. Samantha is currently working on her Telugu project Shaakuntalam.
As it is known that the second wave of the Coronavirus put a halt to many movie shoots. Shaakuntalam was no exception. In a recent update, Neelima Guna, one of the producers informed that 50% of the filming is already done and the rest will begin in the last week of June. She wrote “Hi people, earlier we had finished 50% of our film’s shoot & now will resume shoot in June last week. We’ve vaccinated our crew & technicians, would be limiting participants & thoroughly screening everyone with frequent testing just like how we’ve done previously. Shaakuntalam is a mythological love story based on the play Abhijnana Shakuntalam written by the great poet Kalidasa. Gunasekhar is helming this project where Samantha Akkineni is essaying the role of Shakuntala, while the Malayalam actor Dev Mohan plays Dushyanta. Mani Sharma is the music composer. Shaakuntalam is produced jointly under the banners of Dil Raju Productions and Gunaa Teamworks.
