King Nagarjuna is one of the versatile actors who has been entertaining the audience for over decades with his unique looks and stellar performance.  He is also well known for his philanthropic works in the industry.  As uniquely talented he is, Nagarjuna is blessed with an unique ideology.  Nagarjuna shared his dream about building a museum for Telugu cinema in a recent media interaction.

The current Coronavirus pandemic situation is questioning us in infinite ways about our lives and lifestyles.  One can not help but think about a future to preserve things.  Nagarjuna expressed his one such dream.  The actor said “Cinema is a part of an art and art needs to be preserved, like we preserve great paintings we should preserve cinema as well.  My father Akkineni Nageswara Rao started his career back when there was no dialogue.  If we can see today, how far Telugu cinema has evolved over the years, we can’t help but gush at the growth.  When cinema has given us such a wonderful experience, we should give it a proper honour.  I felt building a museum for Telugu cinema is such an honour(sic.)”

Adding further, Nagarjuna said “When I conducted the film preservation and restoration workshop at our studio in 2019, it was fascinating to witness the technology era we are living in.  Looking at all the modern technology we were in awe and inspired, that’s when I decided to build a museum for Telugu cinema.  To preserve all the things from the past to till date showing the evolution of Telugu cinema with its beauty to the upcoming generations(sic.)”

Speaking about why it is important to preserve cinema, Nagarjuna said “ My father Akkineni Nageswara Rao did about 250 to 300 films in his career.  We couldn’t preserve them all, but were fortunate enough to get some of his classics back again with technology.  That’s what happens in cinema, we make films, we watch them and forget about it as another movie hits theatres again.  However, we decided to preserve movies and the work is going on.  I am in constant touch with the film archivists.  Due to the sudden downfall of the pandemic, the project is delayed but the process of retrieving films is underway(sic.)”
