Murari showcased Mahesh Babu as one of the best actors of Telugu cinema, who can fit in any genre and role. The supernatural family entertainer was directed by Krishna Vamsi and also introduced Bollywood beauty, Sonali Bendre, to Tollywood. The film portrayed a wide range of emotions and actors, which clicked with the audience in every aspect, to become a blockbuster movie. As the film completes 20 years at the box office, Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata Shirodkar took to her Instagram handle and called Murari one among her favourite Telugu films. Mentioning it as ‘A true classic in every sense of the word’, Namrata wrote “Another one of my favourite films of @urstrulymahesh! ❤️❤️ Never gets old!! Murari is a perfect mixture of family sentiments, comedy, action and romance. The plot of the film revolves around the happy go lucky Murari whose ancestors have been victims of goddess Durga’s generational curse since the mid 19th century. Every 48 years, one of the royal family’s heirs loses his life and Murari is the one who is to succumb to the curse. The film won three Nandi Awards and was declared as the first blockbuster of Mahesh Babu’s protagonist career. Murari featured an acclaimed supporting cast of Lakshmi, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Sukumari, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao and others. Mani Sharma composed the music and every song of the film is a classic masterpiece.
