Nagesh Kukunoor is an Indian filmmaker, who has predominantly worked on Bollywood films, is now making his debut in Telugu with the Keerthy Suresh starrer Good Luck Sakhi. The film stars Keerthy Suresh as the leading lady and features Aadi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles.
Speaking to leading daily about his Telugu debut, Good Luck Sakhi, Nagesh said, “It is as a sports rom-com. The film is about whether there’s anything called good or bad luck in life. And Shooting (the sport) is just an element in the narrative (sic.)”
Nagesh Kukunoor also revealed why he took so long to make a film in Telugu. The National Award-winning director said, “Let me tell you, I was offered several Telugu films earlier, but I turned them down politely. I believe that you can make a film only if you are comfortable in that language. Even though my mother tongue is Telugu, while growing up, I spoke Deccani. I only got comfortable with Telugu over the last couple of years, and that’s when I decided to make a Telugu film (sic.)”
Nagesh also revealed that he is only friends with Shobu Yarlagadda and Rana Daggubati in Tollywood and meets them occasionally.
