Karthik Subbaraj is one of the best Indian cinema directors working today. One of the best films of Karthik Subbaraj is Petta, starring Rajinikanth, which became the biggest hit of 2019. Petta was a Pan Indian film, starring top actors from film industry like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Megha Akash and more. The director opened up about the possibility of Petta 2 in an interview with a leading daily.
Opening up on the possibility of Petta 2, Karthik Subbaraj said, “Not while making the film. While making the film we didn’t have anything in mind about that and all (a sequel). But after it released, it got quite interesting the way the fans thought about it and kept asking and even suggested the way it should go. The message us with their ideas of Petta 2 on social media platforms, which were all quite interesting. Some even came forward with theories of possibles stories for Petta 2. As of now, I wouldn’t say that I have a story of Petta 2. But it could happen in future.”

On the work front, Karthik Subbaraj has already completed his next film Jaggame Thandiram, with Dhanush in the lead role. The film is set to release across theatres worldwide once the lockdown restrictions are lifted. The director recently announced his next project with Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv, titled Chiyaan 60. While his production venture Penguin starring National Film Award winning actor Keerthy Suresh, as the main lead is gearing up for a direct OTT release.
