Prabhas has cemented himself as one of the biggest stars in Indian movies after the success of Baahubali franchise which was directed by Rajamouli. The movie catapulted Prabhas to international stardom and his next film after Bahubali, which was Saaho broke multiple records and was one of the highest grossing films of 2019 in the Indian cinema.
When news of Nag Ashwin directing Prabhas in a movie broke out, fans were ecstatic because of the possibility of the outcome of a great movie considering that Nag Ashwin is a National Award winning director. The official announcement came on the back of one of the biggest production houses in Tollywood, Vyjayanthi Movies turning 50 years old. The owners behind Vyjayanthi Movies announced a pan Indian venture featuring Prabhas would be helmed by a director Nag Ashwin.

The movie was originally supposed to be released in December 2021 with the movie expected to go on to the floors in November 2020. However, in a latest statement Ashwini Dutt, the producer behind Prabhas21 revealed that the movie would release in April 2022 even though the movie will go on floors in October 2021. Furthermore, he said “Nag Ashwin’s story surprised me. He came up with a universally acceptable story for Prabhas. The project requires hundreds of crores of budget. Only Prabhas can pull off such a massive project (sic.)”
Nag Ashwin earlier directed the National Award winning movie Mahanati while Prabhas is currently shooting for his untitled movie Prabhas20, a period drama.
