Sreekaram tells a story about Sharwanand, who is the son of a farmer, played by Rao Ramesh. Sharwanand works as a software engineer in the city, to clear the debts of his father. After clearing the debts, Sharwanand returns to his hometown and takes farming as a career. Sharwanand tries to revive the culture of farming and agriculture in the village among the youngsters of the village. How he manages to do it and wins the hearts of the villagers forms the crux of the story.
Although there have been quite some movies about farming and their struggles, Sreekaram tries a different path by focusing on influencing the youth to consider farming as a career. Sharwanand’s acting chops as a young farmer is a delight to watch. The dialogue delivery by Sharwanand are so beautiful and meaningful. In today’s world, where corporate life is all about running 24/7, Sreekaram makes you want to stop for a bit and take a fresh breath amid nature.
Along with Sharwanand’s great acting chops, his chemistry with Priyanka Arul Mohan is unmissable. Priyanka plays the love interest of Sharwanand and falls in love with him first. Priyanka’s antics to woo Sharwanand are extremely cute. The film does not go with a usual love story, the twist is- Priyanka leaves her entire metropolitan lifestyle and moves to the village to understand Sharwanand’s passion for farming.
Sreekaram focuses on many real points about farming like a moneylender role played by Sai Kumar. He plays the role of a person, who lends money to the farmers at high interest and buys their lands for low prices due to lack of profits and Irrigation. We all know that such a situation exists and daily about 3 farmers commit suicide because of it. Trying to educate the audience by touching on these sensitive topics is a commendable job done by the Sreekaram team.
The music of Sreekaram needs no introduction. The songs have been buzzing among the audience even before the release. The songs and background score perfectly fit in the elements of the storyline. Along with music, the village backdrop is so beautifully captured in every way.
