Sreenu Vaitla

Sreenu Vaitla is an Indian Film Director who primarily works for Telugu Cinema. Just like many aspirants from the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, Srinu Vaitla too landed in Tollywood to try his luck. During the initial days of career, he assisted director EVV Satyanarayana along with VV Vinayak for some time. During the mid-90s, he got the chance to direct Hero Rajasekhar for Aparitchitudu movie which later got shelved for the reasons unknown.

Sreenu made his debut as the movie director with “Nee Kosam” (1999) with Ravi Teja and Maheshwari in the lead roles. The movie was a serious love saga with a tragic ending. Being an ardent admirer of directors like Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma, he had their influence in the filmmaking. Though, the film wasn’t the commercial hit, it received critical acclaim.

It was on the suggestion of Hero Nagarjuna, Sreenu Vaitla focused on incorporating comedy in his movies. The result is his second movie “Anandam” (2001) turned out to be a surprise hit leaving his brand of comedy. All his movies have all the necessary commercial elements but, it’s always the comedy that is being highlighted. The result can be seen in movies like “Venky”, “Dubai Seenu”, “King”, “Namo Venkatesha”, “Ready”, “Dookudu”, and “Dhee”.

Srinu Vaitla’s biggest hit of his career is “Dookudu”, which came as a fresh breather for Mahesh Babu who was going through a lean patch. In his decade-and-half career, Sreenu Vaitla got the chance to work with all the leading heroes of Tollywood like NTR, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan.
