Rajinikanth (Sivaji Rao Gaekwad)

    Rajnikanth is an Indan Actor who primarily appears in Tamil Cinema and is famous in other languages with the dubbed versions. Born as Sivaji Rao Gaekwad, Rajinikanth has become the biggest Superstars of the Indian Cinema and personification of heroism from a mere Bus Conductor.     From a man of humble beginnings to the biggest celebrity on the Indian Silver screen, Rajinikanth has traversed many a rough and smooth terrain. His life history has been a painful rags-to-riches story. The actor’s transition from a Marathi-speaking Shivaji Rao Gaekwad who turned Bus Conductor Bangalore to the biggest Superstar of Tamil Cinema with an unmatched and undiminished popularity is nothing short of wonderment. Rajnikanth is born to a Marathi-speaking family, who migrated to Karnataka and his father was Constable in the Police Department.

    Rajnikanth started doing odd jobs to support his family before getting the job as a Conductor. Being highly influenced by the reigning of Tamil Cinema, MGR, and Sivaji Ganeshan, he developed a strong inclination towards acting. While he was working as a conductor, Rajinikanth was the main attraction to the passengers, his style and mannerisms made them his fans. Rajnikanth was introduced to the Cinema by the thespian K Balachander with Apoorva Rangangal (1975) in which Rajinikanth played the negative role while Kamal Haasan played the hero.

The year 1980 has been the turning point to the superstar’s career as his super hit movie Billa which was a remake to Amitabh Bachan’s 1978 classic Don has laid the foundation to the impending stardom of the India’s highly influential actor. With the phenomenal success of the movie, there was no looking back for Rajinikanth.

His elder daughter Soundarya has been married to the Tamil actor Dhanush.
