Raj-Koti was the most prominent duo of music directors in the 80s and mid-90s in Telugu Cinema. The duo has taken Telugu music to new heights by implementing western beats and ruled the industry to the roost. They were the first to introduce the pop music to Telugu Industry.
Raj (Thotakuru Somaraju) is the son of veteran music director TV Raju and Koti (Saluri Koteswara Rao) is the son of veteran music director Saluri Rajeshwar Rao. Hailing from the family of musicians, love for music was imbibed in them. After assisting several music directors for several years, Raj got the first opportunity but, he insisted on joining with Koti and created their brand name “Raj-Koti” and which has left the unalloyed delight in the Telugu Movie Industry.
They made debut with Mohan Babu’s Pralaya Gharjana which happens to be the debut film under his home banner “Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures” and there was no looking back since then. Their association with Chiranjeevi created a huge rage in the Telugu film industry. After working successfully for over 10 years, the duo split as Raj and Koti. Oscar award winning music director AR Rahman worked under them for over 8 years. The most popular movies of Raj-Koti are Yamudiki Mogudu, Hello Brother, Khaidi No. 786, Govinda Govinda, Pedarayudu, Kodama Simham, Lankeswarudu, Bangaru Bullodu, Muta Mestri and Shatruvu.
