Radha (Udaya Chandrika)

Radha, born as Udaya Chandrika is a South Indian Actress who was a reigning queen of the box-office in the 1980s. Her elder sister Ambika is also a well-noted actress and the two sisters had acted in many movies together. Radha was introduced to Tamil Cinema by Bharatiraja with Alaigal Oivathillai movie along with another debutant Karthik. The movie was a blockbuster hit and has won 8 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. The movie was later remade into Telugu as Seethkoka Chiluka, with Karthik reprising the role in Telugu too.

In no time, Radha has become the most popular heroine in Tamil Cinema and was at the zenith of her fame, her pairing with Karthik has delivered many super hits. The beautiful glam diva forayed into Telugu Cinema with Shoban Babu’s Mr. Vijay in 1983 and has been paired with all the leading men during that period. Radha’s pairing with Chiranjeevi was highly successful and she was the only actress who could compete with him in dances.

After an amazing journey in the tinsel-town, Radha bid adieu to movies and was married to a business man Rajasekharan Nair and the couple are looking after the chain of hotels in India and a restaurant in the UK named Rock and Role Kitchen (RRK). Radha’s daughter Karthika Nair and Thualsi Nair also made their screen-debuts. In a career spanned 10 years, Radha has featured in around 100 movies, most famous being Kodamasimham, Kondaveeti Donga, Jebudonga, Yamudiki Mogudu, Vikcy Dada, State Rowdy and Lankeswarudu.
