Puri Jagannadh (born on 28th September 1966) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who works primarily in Telugu Cinema and partly in Kannada in Hindi Cinema. He was also a voracious reader and was highly influenced by the writings of famous writers Chalam and Sri Sri.
Being driven by passion towards movies since childhood, Puri Jagannadh moved to Hyderabad to pursue the career and approached Ram Gopal Varma during the shooting for Telugu cult-classic movie Shiva for the role of assistant director. On RGV’S advice, Puri appeared in a dance number for the song Botany Patamudni in the movie. After working as an assistant director for over few years, he got a chance to direct a film called Pandu with actor Suman, but the film got shelved due to some unknown reasons. Hero Ravi Teja is his close crony and the duo has delivered super hits like Itlu Shravani Subramanyam, Idiot, and Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi. He started NTR’s Andhrawala amongst big fanfare and the movie has turned out to be one of the biggest debacles in Puri’s and NTR’s career. He reinvented himself with the 2006’s blockbuster Pokiri which swept away all the previous records set by Chiranjeevi’s Indra, emerging as an industry hit at that time.
Puri marked his mark in Hindi with Bbudha Hoga Tera Baap with Amitabh Bachan in the lead role. His recent film is Temper with NTR which turned out to be a super hit.
