Prabhu

    Prabhu is an Indian actor who primarily features in Tamil Cinema. He is the son of the legendary actor late Sivaji Ganeshan. Prabhu started his career as an executive producer along with his uncle VC Shanmugham and later turned actor. His father Sivaji Ganeshan was reluctant to see him as an actor. However, Prabhu chose to be an actor and made his debut with Sangili (1982) in which his father played the lead role.

    After playing supporting roles and roles as a lead actor, Prabhu’s career has seen slight dip as he had to compete with the emerging actors like Karthik, Sathyaraj and Vijaykanth. He reinvented himself and chose the subjects with substance and regained the stardom. His biggest hit in career is Chinna Tambi in which ran for nearly an year in which he is seen as an uneducated village simpleton. The movie was later remade in several language and received huge applause apart from commercial success.

    The movie was remade in Telugu by Venkatesh as Chanti in Telugu and Anari in Hindi. Prabhu, a leading actor of his days, has seen a lull in the early 2000s with the onset of young heroes like Ajith, Vijay and many others, realized his calling in for a richer variety roles and he is now the senior statesman of Tamil Cinema and a powerful character actor. Currently, Prabhu is playing supporting roles in Tamil and Telugu. Some popular movies of Prabhu are Darling, Dhenikaina Ready, Chandramukhi, Kalapani, Mallanna, Gharshana.
