PC Sreeram

    PC Sreeram, revered as the “Guru of Cinematography” is an eminent Indian movie cinematographer and director who predominantly works in Tamil cinema, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. A diploma holder in Cinematography from Madras Film Institute, passion towards the photography has imbibed in him since the young age and it was through the still photography that he imagined the world.

    Though his initial part of career was not satisfactory, PC Sreeram rose to fame with Maniratnam’s “Mounaragam” and his long association with the maverick movie maker had resulted in many award-winning movies like “Naayagan”, “Agni Natchitaram”, “Mounaragam”, and “Thiruda Thiruda”. The renowned cinematographer made his directorial debut with “Meera” with Vikram and Aishwarya in the lead roles but the film went unnoticed. His second directorial venture “Drohi” with Kamal Haasan and Arjun in the lead roles had made an official entry into Oscars in 1996. PC Sreeram is the trendsetter who started the HD digital film in India with his third directorial venture “Vaanam Vasppaudam” which was screened at Mumbai International Film Festival and Kerala’s 9th International Film Festival. Many of the leading cinematographers like KV Guhan, Aravind Krishna, Arjun Jena, Preeth Jayaram, Sivakumar Vijayan and Jeeva were PC Sreeram’s assistants during initial stages of their career.
