Namrata Shirodkar

    Namrata Shirodkar, a former Miss India, and a model-turned-actress, is the granddaughter of famous Marathi actress Vanita Shirodkar and younger sister of veteran actress Shilpa Shirodkar who appeared in few Telugu movies like Brahma.

    Namratha began her career as a model and was crowned the Femina’s Miss India Universe title in 1993 and the same year, she also represented India in the Miss Asia Pacific contest and stood the first runner-up.

    She made her cinematic debut with Bollywood film Purab Ki Laila Pachhim Ki Chhaila which had Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty as the heroes, but the film never got released, her first official release was in a small role in super hit film Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai (1998), along with Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna. Namrata then featured in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful movie Vaastav with Sanjay Dutt.

    After a successful stint in Bollywood, Namrata made her debut in Telugu with Vamsi alongside Mahesh Babu and both fell in love with each other during the movie’s shooting and got married in 2005. The couple is blessed with a son Gautham Krishna and a daughter Sitara.
