Mammootty (Mohammed Kutty Ismail Paniparambil)

Mammootty (born as Mohammed Kutty Ismail Paniparambil) is an Indian actor who appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi Cinema. A 3-time National Award winner and a superstar of Malayalam cinema, Mammootty was a lawyer by qualification, who became an actor by a whim.

He made his debut in an uncredited role in 1971 in the film “Anubhavangal Paalichakal“ and the actor has to go through a lean patch and struggle for over a decade to become the lead actor. The period between 1982 – 1986 saw Mammootty evolving as a mainstream hero of the Malayalam cinema and 1986 year alone Mammootty has featured as a hero in 35 films, a record which is still intact.

From an actor appeared in an uncredited role to the biggest superstar of Malayalam cinema on whom several awards been bestowed upon, Mammootty has been the mainstay of Malayalam cinema for over 3 decades. His son Dulquer Salman is the leading actor in Malayalam cinema.
