Harris Jayaraj

Harris Jayaraj is a popular music director who predominantly works in Tamil Cinema and occasionally in Telugu. Harris’s father SM Jayakumar was a famous guitarist and an assistant to Malayalam music director Shyam. He wanted his son to be guitarist and was brought up under the tutelage of Mr A Abdul Sattar.

After working as an assistant to music directors like Raj-Koti, AR Rahma, Mani Sharma and Vidyasagar for few years, Harris Jayaraj in has made his career debut with the Gautham Menon’s debut movie “Minnale” (got dubbed in Telugu as Cheli) which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Music and broke AR Rahman’s 9 years continuous record of fetching the award.

Harris has become popular with Vasu, Gharshana, Ghajini, Sainikudu, Munna, Surya S/O Krishnan, Orange and Rangam. He has won five Filmfare Awards for Best Music Director and three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Music Director.
