Gunasekhar is a popular Indian movie director who basically works in Telugu Cinema. The way he narrates the story in a subtle manner with high technical aspects made him the one of the finest directors.
Gunasekhar made his debut with the 1992 “Lathi” which had Prashant in the lead role.
The movie was miserable flop keeping the director at bay for 3 years, his next movie being “Sogasu Choodatharama” (1995) was highly appreciated by the critics but the commercial success was still luring him.
Gunasekhar’s first success was “Bala Ramayanam” (1997) with all the kids and it’s the first movie of Jr NTR as a kid in which he plays Lord Rama. The movie was a huge hit and won him the National Award for the Best Children’s film, which eventually got him the attention of star heroes.
He hasn’t taken many gaps for his next film which was Chiranjeevi’s “Choodalani Vundi” (1998), a blockbuster hit that put Gunasekhar in the top league of directors. It took another 5 years for him to deliver another blockbuster in the form of “Okkadu” (2003) with Mahesh Babu.
The success of the Okkadu gave Mahesh Babu, the star hero image and got him closer to the masses. Post “Okkadu”, Guna Sekhar’s career wasn’t the same as he expected and has delivered back to back duds. His latest movie is the biopic of the warrior princess “Rudhramadevi” (2015) which had a decent run at Box Office. Gunasekhar’s popular movies include “Rudhramadevi”, “Okkadu”, “Choodalani Vundi”, “Arjun”.
