Gummadi (Gummadi Venkateshwar Rao)

Gummadi (born as Gummadi Venkateshwar Rao) is a veteran actor of Telugu Cinema. He is considered as one of the best character artists of all-time. Though younger than heroes of his generation, Gummadi always played the elderly roles of a father even during the early days of his career. Gummadi owned a Radio shop in Tenali before entering into films and was an active stage player.

Notable film personalities used to visit his shop, his acting in a stage show was highly appreciated and many suggested him to try in films.

Gummadi’s first movie was “Adhurstadeevudu” and went on appear in over 500 films. The thespian has won the National Award for his role in “Mahamantri Thimmarasu”. The veteran actor who mesmerized the audience with his stellar performance in many movies had lasted his breath on 26th January 2010 due to multiple organ failures.
