Girija

    Girija Shettar of “Geethanjali” fame is a former Indian actress who appeared in a couple of movies in Telugu and Malayalam. Girija, born to an Indian father and British mother was born and raised in England.

    Girija flew back to India to learn the classical dance Bharatanatyam and movies happened to her by chance. She marked her screen debut with Mani Ratnam’s cult-classic “Geethanjali” along with Nagarjuna and. The success of the movie changed her fortunes and she became a rage among the youth during the 90s. She subsequently acted in another Malayalam super hit movie “Vandanam” opposite to Mohanlal directed by Priyadarshan which was later remade in Telugu as “Nirnayam”.

    She further signed Bollywood project “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander” opposite to Aamir Khan but left the project mid-way due to her prior commitments. Though, offers kept plunging from all corners, Girija chose to stay away from the limelight to follow her heart into spiritual thoughts and she is currently staying in England.
