Ganesh Venkatraman, a former model and winner of Gladrags “Mr. India” title in 2003 made his debut on the small screen by hosting a TV reality show Vendhar Veetu Kalyanam on Vendhar TV and appeared in few more Tamil serials Antariksh and Mayavi, the first 3D serial in Tamil television.
His cinematic debut began with the experimental crossover movie The Angrez based on Hyderabad Urdu. However, his debut movie couldn’t garner wider attention and he has to wait for few years to hog the limelight. Ganesh Venkatraman’s career break came in the form of Prakash Raj’s Abhiyum Naanum (dubbed in Telugu as Aakashamantha) in which he played the role of Sardar which won him a great acclaim followed by another spellbound performance in Kamal Haasan – Mohanlal’s Unnaipol Oruvan, a remake of Bollywood’s super hit film A Wednesday.
In a career spanning 10 years, Ganesh Venkatraman has appeared in all the South Indian languages and few Hindi movies as well, some of his notable films include Dhamarukam, Eenadu, Thani Oruvan, Guns of Benares, Something Something and The Angrez.
