Dil Raju

Dil Raju (born as Venkata Ramana Reddy) is a popular producer (who was fondly called as Raju) in Telugu Cinema and is often regarded as the Man with Midas touch as he has a strong sense of judgment over movie’s fate at BO.

Dil Raju hails from Nizamabad District of Telangana State. Ever since 9th class, he has developed the strong fetish towards movies. After completing intermediate, he moved to Hyderabad and worked in Automobile Spare parts company for few years and it was during that stint he got a chance to meet the film distributors and that friendship eventually leads him to take up shares in distribution for Lakshmi Venkateshwara Films along with his brother and few other producers.

Their first film was Chiranjeevi’s Alluda Mazaka and acquired Vizag rights. The movie was a super hit leaving Dil Raju in huge profits. His next ventures Puttinilla Mettinilla, Big Boss has left them in unrecoverable losses forcing his brother to quit, but Dil Raju was persistent and opened new distribution company Sri Harshitha Films in 1996. Under this distribution company, Dil Raju bought distribution rights for Soundarya’s Arundathi (1999) which was produced by Costumes Krishna for 36 Lakhs, but Dil Raju could pay only 34 lakhs. The movie tanked at the box, but Dil Raju was kind enough to return the balance amount to Costumes Krishna which took him by a surprise. After one more debacle, Dil Raju has called it quits and was back into the automobile business.

Being moved by Dil Raju’s kind gesture, Costume’s Krishna offered Dil Raju the Nizam Rights for his movie Pelli Pandiri and the movie turned out to be super hit. After a successful stint as a distributor, upon the advice of Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, Dil Raju has turned as a producer. His debut movie as a producer was Dil and since then, Dil has become the prefix to his name. Dil Raju’s famous movies include Arya, Dil, Munna, Bommarillu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Brindavanam.
