Deepika Padukone

    Deepika Padukone, the daughter of former Indian Badminton player Prakash Padukone is an Indian actress and one the most popular and highest paid Indian actress primarily appearing in Hindi cinema. Deepika Padukone shot to fame with a television commercial for the soap Liril and modeled for various other brands and products. In 2005, she made her runway debut at the Lakme Fashion Week for designer Suneet Varma and won the “Model of the Year” award at the Kingfisher Fashion Awards. However, Deepika Padukone’s fame increased by leaps and bounds when she appeared in a highly popular print campaign for the 2006 Kingfisher Calendar.

    Deepika initially started her career as a Badminton player and even represented the game at National level during her teens. However, she left the sport and chose modeling over Badminton. Her modeling stint led to film offers and made her debut with Upendra’s Kannada movie Aishwarya, a remake to Nagarjuna’s Manmadhudu.

    However, it was her high-profile Bollywood debut with Shahrukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om that fetched her nation-wide recognition and attained stardom overnight.
