Balakrishna

    Nandamuri Balakrishna is an Indian actor in Telugu Cinema. He is the sixth son of the legendary hero, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. N T Ramao Rao. Balakrishna made his debut at the age of 14 with Thatamma Kala in 1974 directed by his father and after appearing in few movies in supporting roles, Balakrishna later debuted as a hero with Sahasame Jeevitha which was a moderate success and it was the film Mangammagari Manavadu (1984) which was his first commercial success, that earned him the stardom.

    He was associated with Bhargav Arts Productions and director Kodi Ramakrishna and delivered many blockbusters. His combination with director B Gopal also saw major blockbusters like Lorry Driver, Rowdy Inspector, Samarasimha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu. In the mid-90s, Balakrishna started the faction trend with Samarasimha Reddy in movies and his Narasimha Naidu was an industry hit in 2001. He was one of the quartet actors along with his contemporary heroes Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh during the 80s and 90s.

    Balakrishna is known as the only actor among the current breed who can pull off mythological characters with great ease. In a career spanning 40 years, he has appeared in 99 films. He was an active participant in politics and currently he is serving as an MLA (Hindupur Constituencey) for Telugu Desam Party. He is married to Vasundara Devi at a very young age of 22 and has 3 children Brahmani, Tejaswini, Mokshagna. Balarkishna’s elder brother Harikrishna is an actor and politician and his nephews Jr NTR, Kalyan Ram and Taraka Ratna are leading heroes in Tollywood. His brother-in-law Nara Chandrababu Naidu is the Chief Minster of Andhra Pradesh State.
