Shaakuntalam is an upcoming film that is a women-centric story, directed by Gunasekhar. The film is going to be released both in 2D and 3D. Shaakuntalam is a mythological movie that is quoted as “Mythology for Millennials” by Neelima Guna. The story is an adaptation of the Indian mythological play Abhijnanashakuntalam, written by Kalidasa. The makers have recently released a 3D trailer for the film. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is playing the title role of Shakuntala in this film, along with Dev Mohan as King Dushyanta. The makers have already released a few melodious songs from the film. Today, Shaakuntalam‘s makers released a full video song titled Mallika Mallika. This is a solo song of Samantha with others on the subject of waiting for her love.

Mallika Mallika is composed by music director Mani Sharma. Ramya Behara sang this song, while the lyrics were provided by Chaitanya Prasad. This song has a fresh feel about how a woman awaits the arrival of her love. The movie revolved around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyanta from the Mahabharata. 

The direction and screenplay of Shaakuntalam are by Gunasekhar, who is well known for Rudramadevi. This is the first time he is collaborating with Samantha. The film is produced under the banners of Gunaa Teamworks and Sri Venkateswara Creations. Sekhar V Joseph handled the cinematography, while Prawin Pudi is the editor. Mani Sharma composed the music. The film Shaakuntalam is going to be released on April 14th, worldwide, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
