Superstar Krishna (Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy) is one of the legendary actors of Telugu cinema. He acted in more than 350 films. He even handled other technical departments of cinema, including direction and production. With his ideas and contributions, he changed the course of Telugu cinema. He brought many technological advances to Tollywood. He is a true superstar and trendsetter in Telugu cinema. It is so unfortunate to lose the legendary veteran actor today. It is known to us all that Krishna passed away this morning in the early hours after fighting cardiac arrest on a ventilator. However, in this very moment of grief, let us take a moment to recollect the outstanding contributions of the superstar to Telugu cinema.
Superstar Krishna is the first actor to star in the first cinemascope film, Alluri Seetharama Raju, in 1974. He made the first Eastmancolor film, Eenadu, in 1982. He was the first to introduce 70mm film in Telugu with Simhasanam in 1986. The first DTS film in Telugu, Telugu Veera Levara, was also made by Krishna in 1995. Krishna also introduced cowboy films and spy films to Telugu cinema, including Gudachari 116, Gudachari 117, Rahasya Gudachari, James Bond 777, Mosagallaku Mosagadu, and Agent Gopi. Superstar Krishna also directed 17 films and produced numerous films under the production company, Padmalaya Studios. His contributions to the technical side of Telugu cinema are incredible.
Krishna’s sudden demise is a huge loss to the Ghattamaneni family and the entire Telugu film industry. The public is left in grief by this shocking news. Many members of the Telugu film fraternity, the Telugu audience, and the superstar fans are sending their condolences to the Ghattamaneni family, particularly Mahesh Babu, and asking him to stay strong in this moment of sadness.
