King Nagarjuna has an immense fan base in Tollywood for his exceptional performances in the films in his long career. Right from his debut to the recently released Bangarraju, Nagarjuna is well connected to the Telugu audiences. He became much closer to them by going into their homes with the TV shows like Meelo Evaru Koteeswarulu and Bigg Boss. The King’s fan base is tremendous. One such fan of Nagarjuna builds Annamacharya temple, after being impressed with the character Annamayya played by Nagarjuna in the film Annamayya.
As a mark of respect and love towards Nagarjuna, a die hard fan from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh state decided to build a temple for the character Annamayya played by his favourite actor. The construction was completed recently after 25 years and the temple is open now for the visitors. The temple is named Sri Annamayya Swamy Mandiram. The temple was funded by the fans and followers of Nagarjuna in the last 25 years. The temple construction was done for 1 crore rupees. Even the residents of Guntur added small amounts to the fund from their side.
Annamayya was directed by K Raghavendra Rao, based on the life of Annamacharya, a famous devotee of Lord Venkateswara. The film was released on 22nd May and was loved by the Telugu audience. Nagarjuna protrayed the character of Annamayya and received much applause and accolades for playing the character so efficiently.
