Synopsis:
Rajashekar is one of the finest actors among the very few senior actors of Tollywood currently. His last two films PSV Garuda Vega and Kalki proved that Rajashekar’s success stream is not stopped yet. The two films got a very good reception from the Telugu audience. Carrying that forward and fighting with his personal and health issues, Rajashekar is back with a solid content oriented film again, titled Shekar. The film is an official remake of Malayalam hit movie Joseph. The trailer of Shekar got an amazing response and showed the signs of a blockbuster, just like Joseph. The film was released on 20th May and lived up to the success of the original. The film is getting some decent positive response from the Telugu audience. Story:
Shekar (Rajashekar) is a retired police officer who was a master once at investigating crime scenes, solving the case, and finding out the criminal. Now, he stays alone being away from them all and spending sometime with his friends. A police officer approaches Shekar for his help in solving a murder case and he accepts. Shekar gets haunted by the memories of his ex-wife Indu (Aathmeeya Rajan) during the investigation. Meanwhile, his ex-wife dies in an accident. Shekar gets to know that his wife’s death was actually a murder and starts the investigation. How Shekar finds the murderer and solves the case is the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances:
Rajashekar gave a very strong comeback in the film after his recent issues with health. Firstly, he perfectly suited the role by his looks. And then he stole the show with his performance. He looks solid in all the investigation scenes. He also looks handsome in the love track with the lead actress.
Aathmeeya Rajan too justified her role as Rajashekar’s wife.
Shivani Rajashekar gets a very good role and she played that with perfection as she always does.
Off-Screen Highlights:
The major asset of the film is the story itself and the credit goes to the original content creator Joju George. However, a few changes are made to the Telugu version to make it appealing to the Telugu audience in current times and the work of the writer Lakshmi Bhupala is appreciable. The screenplay changes are also interesting and the credit goes to Jeevitha Rajashekar. The twists and turns are properly placed.
Anup Ruben’s background score to this thriller and Mallikarjun’s frames are impressive.
