SS Rajamouli decided to make a huge action sequence in the interval block. But he wanted it to be constructed with the emotions in the deep layers. Besides creating a grandeur visual experience, all he wants is a strong emotion. So Rajamouli chose to build the friendship between the lead characters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju so strongly in the first half so that the impact at the interval block would be much stronger when the characters recognize that their paths are quite opposite and they fight each other. Rajamouli said that his idea worked out so perfectly and the audience loved the interval block very much.
Also, Rajamouli spoke about the characterization of Komaram Bheem and the decision of choosing Jr NTR for that role. Rajamouli said that Tarak has a ferocious mass image in the Telugu states and the audience always expects him to be seen in such fierce roles. But what if that aggression being projected outside has a pure innocence deep inside the heart, that is what made Rajamouli rope in Tarak for the role of Bheem who is a tribal man.
