Women in India, particularly those who belong to the film industry are judged on various things. Their dressing sense, their personal life, their tastes, their opinions and everything that belongs to them except their problems are seen by the society with a magnified glass of questions. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tollywood’s top actress, was even judged and trolled on various occasions. Yet the actress stood up to them all.
Recently, Samantha spoke about the judgements made on women on her Instagram handle. She spoke about women being judged on race, education, and everything else. She also suggested everyone to change their perception of understanding a person.
“As a woman I bear firsthand knowledge of what it means to be judged. We judge women based on what they wear, their race, education, social standing, appearance, skin tone and the list goes on and on. Making snap judgements about a person simply based on the clothes they wear is quite literally the easiest thing one can do. Now that we’re in the year 2022, can we finally stop judging a woman based on the hemlines and necklines she adorns and focus instead on bettering ourselves? Turning the judgement inward and training it on one’s own self is evolution. Projecting our ideals on someone else never did anyone any good. Let’s gently rewrite the way we measure and understand,” wrote Samantha on her Instagram.
Samantha is currently shooting for Yashoda. Two other films of Samantha, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal and Shaakuntalam are in post production and are likely to be released in 2022.
