With all the big films quitting from the Pongal race, it was a handful of opportunities for the small and medium budget films to show their content to the audience and compete at the box office. Few films got released for the Pongal and did well at the box office. The film Rowdy Boys got both positive talk and commercial success for this Pongal.
Dil Raju, the producer of the film Rowdy Boys came up with the collections of the film. Despite the positive talk and huge appreciation for the debutant Ashish Reddy, the film seemed to have fewer openings on day 1 than expected by the makers of the film. It might be the effect of the multi starrer Bangarraju, said Dil Raju during the press conference. But with the youth coming to the theatres, Rowdy Boys managed to collect 1 crore 42 lakhs on day 1. Dil Raju was a little disappointed with these collections as he expected a range of 2 to 2.5 crores on the first day. The film slowly gained a margin of 20 lakhs more on the day of Pongal and ended with a collection of 1 crore 62 lakhs on day 2. The film continued the same pace for day 3 and collected 1 crore 55 lakhs on Sunday. Even though the festival days and weekends passed, Rowdy Boys still stood in the race collecting 1 crore 32 lakhs and 1 crore 5 lakhs on day 4 and day 5 respectively.
Dil Raju announced that the film Rowdy Boys collected a gross of 7 crores approximately in 5 days. The share was 4 crores 50 lakhs. He expects the collections to be in the same range for the second week too as there are no more big releases. He also thanked the media and the Telugu audience for supporting the debutant and his film.
Rowdy Boys is a youthful entertainer and must watch for the youth audience. Even the family audiences are also moving to the theatres to watch the film after listening to the positive talk around from the youngsters.
