Inspired by the English films Groundhog Day and Vantage Point, the Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu had written and directed a science fiction action thriller titled Maanaadu. The film was based on time loops. The film stars Simbu and SJ Suryah in the lead roles. The film was produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music for the film.
The film revolves around a police officer who gets trapped in a time loop on the day of a public conference attended by the Chief Minister and he needs to live the same day repeatedly.

Maanaadu with such an interesting and exciting storyline was hugely acclaimed by both the public and the film critics. The performances from Simbu and SJ Suryah stood as highlights of the film and were praised by the entire Tamil industry.
Maanaadu was a huge hit at the box office and the film joined the 100 crore club of Tamil cinema. With the success of the film and the scope for the story to be driven forward, the director of the film announced a sequel for Maanaadu.
Suresh Productions decided and came forward to pursue the remake rights of Maanaadu. They made an official announcement on their Twitter handle regarding this. They bagged the remake rights in all Indian languages. The theatrical dubbing rights in Telugu were also brought.

Suresh Production is in a full swing of picking the best films from different languages and remaking them in Telugu. They were successful with this approach already with the remakes of Asuran, Drishyam 1 and Drishyam 2 into Telugu as Narappa, Drushyam 1 and Drushyam 2 respectively.
