Nani Reveals His Dream To Work With Mani Ratnam And Kamal Hassan

Natural Star Nani is back with Shyam Singha Roy after his last release of Tuck Jagadish on Amazon Prime.  The film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan and is produced by Venkat Boyanapalli under the banner of Niharika Entertainments.  The film is a romantic drama that takes place in the 1960s in Kolkata.  The film is based on a protest against the evil practise of Devadasi System.  The film stars Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty as the leading ladies alongside Nani.  Nani plays a dual role in the film, one as a filmmaker in the 2020s named Vasu and the other as a revolutionary writer in the 1960s named Shyam Singha Roy.  The film is made with a budget of 50 crores.  The makers of the film planned to release the film in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.  The film is all set to release on December 24, 2021.

When asked by Tamil media about how Tamilians are related to Shyam Singha Roy, Nani replied that the story deals with a unique line and issue that is relatable to any audience. He also recalled many films of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth which are owned by Telugu people when he was a child watching their films. He is confident about Shyam Singha Roy to be owned by the Tamil audience in the same way. He shared about the bonding he has with both the Tamil actors and the audience. He spoke about his relationship with Vijay Sethupati, Siva Karthikeyan and Karthi. He also told them his wish to watch a bilingual film with any of them. He wanted Samuthirakani to write a story for him to make that happen.

Nani admits that he adopted the body language of Kamal Haasan unknowingly for the character of Shyam Singha Roy in a few scenes. He also reveals his dream to work with the legendary actor under the direction of Mani Ratnam. He lost a couple of opportunities to work under the direction of his guru. 

Nani worked with Mani Ratnam for the film Ok Bangaram to give his voice in telugu for the character of Dulquer Salmaan. Later the duo discussed plans for a film together but it did not materialise. Nani had the film in his cart still and wishes that to happen soon.
