“Akhanda” Telugu Movie Review:
The plot starts with Gajendra Sahu who disguises as a guru and takes over an ashram to use it for illegal uranium mining activities after getting into a mess with the government in Assam. The protagonist (Balakrishna) is the son of a wealthy landlord who sets up educational institutions and wants to reform the downtrodden in Ananthapur. Balakrishna sets out to end the factionalism in the area and in the process stumbles upon the radiation poisoning in the area causing the locals to be handicapped. The system fails him when he gets trapped shutting the mining. When the people’s lives are at stake and everything is at the verge of collapse, a powerful force called Shiva Shakti rises to strike a crushing blow to the evil of the land. Who is Siva Shakthi and how he exposes the dark truth and illegal businesses of Gajendra Sahu to the world thereby punishing him forms the remaining story.
Nandamuri Balakrishna delivers one of his career best performances as the Aghora Shiva Shakti. He proves yet again why he is hailed as the god of masses by the Telugu audience. Pragya Jaiswal has a substantial role in the movie and makes sure she nails it perfectly. Srikanth Meka looks menacing and reinvents himself in this new role and breathes life into the character. The remaining supporting cast do justice to their roles.
Nandamuri Balakrishna’s command on language, his diction paired with his impeccable dialogue delivery as the Aghora Shiva Shakti is one of the major highlights of the movie. Boyapati Sreenu’s vision is a major asset of the film. Thaman’s electric background score is another big highlight of the movie. Jai Balayya song is a treat to watch on the big screen. The interval bang and the fight scenes are major positives of the movie.
Boyapati Sreenu creates magic once again with Balayya Babu and it translates on to the screen. The story is a bit predictable and the first half can be trimmed a bit but Balakrishna steals the show with his ferocious performance. Boyapati Sreenu and Balayya Babu have delivered a blockbuster and it is a MASS JATHARA at the cinemas. Akhanda has brought the festive season a bit early for the Telugu audience and the fans are celebrating it. Head over to your nearest theatres and do not miss watching Akhanda on the big screens.
