“Sridevi Soda Center” Telugu Movie Review:
Story:
Soori Babu (Sudheer Babu) is a light technician living in the village of Amalapuram, who intends to have his own store one day. He falls in love with Sridevi (Anandhi,) whose father (Naresh) runs a soda center. As they belong to different castes, Sridevi’s father disapproves of their relationship. Their relationship and life is tested when Soori Babu is implicated on a murder he did not commit, due to the village politics. Will Soori Babu get Sridevi? Forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
While Sudheer Babu has essayed different roles previously, Lighting Soori Babu is definitely a new avatar to the actor. He seamlessly gets into the skin of the character and portrays the character of a village man with conviction. Telugu girl Anandhi is an experienced actor who is an established name in Tamil cinema. The actress’s talent and experience is evident in the movie. She is beautiful, vivacious and one of the highlights of the movie. Pavel Navageethan is impressive as Kasi, and a good addition to the villain fraternity of Tollywood. Seasoned actor Naresh essayed a negative role in the movie and makes a capable villain.
Highlights:
Apart from acting, cinematography of the movie is beautiful and captures the essence of rural Godavari. The fight scenes, especially the boat racing one is a great addition to the movie. The movie has the themes of honour killing and caste based violence, yet the expected climax surprises and is one of the biggest assets of the movie. Director Karuna Kumar shines in depicting these issues, and kudos to him for choosing a less popular climax.
Verdict:
Sridevi Soda Center touches upon the subjects that have been overdone in Tollywood. The director incorporates similar concepts in both of his movies and is convincing at times. Amidst all the intense drama, routineness seeps in eventually. The pacing of the movie can be a major drawback. If intense drama, good performances and the picturesque Godavari is your cup of tea, head over to the theatres to watch Sridevi Soda Center.
