Once upon a time, mythological movies were all the rage in Tollywood. Bringing back the trend is the upcoming epic love story Shaakuntalam. The movie which depicts the love story of Shakunatala and Dushyanta, is based on the play Abhijnanashakuntalam written by Kalidasa. Samantha will be seen as Shakuntala, while Dev Mohan as Dushyanta.
Dev Mohan is the Malayalam actor known for his movie Sufiyum Sujatayum (2020.) Shooting for Shaakuntalam resumed after the second wave of the Coronavirus and has been going on at a rapid pace. Recently, Samantha completed shooting for her part in the movie. In the latest, Dev Mohan wrapped up shooting for the movie. The actor shared his elation at being a part of Shaakunatalam and thanked all the people that made it happen.

Shaakuntalam is directed by Gunasekhar. The movie is co produced by Gunaa Teamworks and Sri Venkateswara Creations. Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha will be seen as little prince Bharata in the movie. Music is composed by Mani Sharma.
