Story:
Navarasa is the much awaited web series co created by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra. The series, as the title suggests, depicts the nine rasas or emotions. The web series has 9 episodes, each directed by nine veteran directors and has an ensemble cast. Navarasa premiered today, on the OTT platform Netflix.
Performances:
Makers roped in the créme de la créme of Kollywood. Nine of the brightest talents have directed one episode each. The cast includes some of the most talented actors like Suriya, Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Siddharth, Parvathy, Anjali and many others. The actors brought their respective characters to life.
Highlights:
The web series is a blend of some striking stories and some not so much. The web series beautifully depicts each of the nine emotions. The episode Summer of 92: Hasya, directed by Priyadarshan is every bit humorous and makes you smile along the length of the episode. Project Agni: Adbhutha, directed by Karthick Naren offers something new and wondrous to the viewers. Finally, Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru: Shringara starring Suriya and Prayaga Martin is poetic, subliminal and simply magical. This episode strongly reminds you of Suriya and Gautam’s Surya S/O Krishnan. While all the episodes are fine watching experiences, these three episodes are superior cinematic experiences.
Verdict:
Navarasa is an interesting watch. Some exceed your expectations, while others can be underwhelming. Regardless, Navarasa makes you feel all the nine emotions. Catch this anthology web series on the OTT platform Netflix.
