As the lockdown restrictions in the respective states are uplifting, the makers are in full swing to get back to their unfinished business and release their individual projects. In the latest, the makers of Thalaivi announced it was accredited with a clean “U” certificate from the Tamil censor board. Telugu and Hindi versions of Thalaivi are soon to be censored. The makers also announced a theatrical release in August.

Thalaivi is an upcoming biographical movie based on the political and personal life of J. Jayalalithaa, the former actress and chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Nasser is essaying the role of M. Karunanidhi, a prominent figure in the political career of Jayalalithaa. Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo and Poorna are appearing in key roles. The popular director A. L Vijay is directing Thalaivi. The film was planned to release on 23rd April 2021 but postponed in the light of the Coronavirus pandemic. However, the makers are soon to announce an official release date.
