Jayam is undoubtedly one of the most iconic Telugu movies. Every 1990s kid in the Telugu states, grew up watching this movie and loved it to pieces. The youthful star Nithiin, who is now one of the most revered actors in Telugu cinema, made his movie debut with Jayam, at the age of 19. His chocolaty looks and cute innocence as Venkataramana stole the hearts of the audiences. Sadaa as Sujatha, the beautiful love interest of Venkataramana was sublime. Nithiin and Sadaa shared such a cute chemistry which made everyone root for the couple. Gopichand debuted in the industry as the antagonist with this movie. His portrayal of Raghu, as a brutish maniac made him the favourite antagonist of Telugu audiences.

Jayam is a movie about love that transcends everything – age, looks, the barriers of society and many more. Director Teja crafted an evergreen romance. Jayam was successful for many reasons, with the beautiful music by R. P. Patnaik being one of the reasons. Songs like Evvaru Emanna, Priyathama and Ranu Raanu were chartbusters. The scene where Nithiin hangs from the ceiling to meet Sadaa in the song Priyathama is simply iconic and has never been done in Telugu cinema before. As the movie completes 19 years of releases, Jayam stands tall as one of the most iconic Telugu movies.
