Samantha Reveals Why She Took Up Her Role In The Family Man Web Series Season 2

Samantha Akkineni, the Tollywood sweetheart and South India’s favourite actress is expanding her horizons by picking challenging and exciting roles with her every endeavour.  Samantha made her digital and Hindi debut with the second season of the hit Prime Video original The Family Man.  Samantha played the role of Raji, a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebel in the series. 

Samantha revealed the reason behind why she took up the role of Raji.  She posted a picture of herself from the sets of The Family Man, with Raj and DK, the makers of the series and wrote “When @rajanddk approached me to do the character, I was aware that portraying Raji’s character required sensitivity and balance. The creative team shared documentaries of the Tamil struggle that included stories of women in the Eelam war. When I watched those documentaries, I was aghast and shocked by the troubles and unspeakable grief that the Tamils of Eelam went through over an extended period of time. I noticed that the aforementioned documentaries had only a few thousand views and that is when it dawned on me how the world just looked away when tens of thousands people of Eelam lost their lives. And, lakhs more lost their livelihood and their homes. *Countless many* continue to live in far away lands with the wounds of the civil strife still fresh in their hearts and minds (sic.)”  Check out Samantha’s full post below:

The Family Man is an action thriller series streaming on the OTT platform Prime Video.  The second season of the series revolves around Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee,) who quit his job as a secret agent and is adjusting to his new corporate job.  When a chance encounter with the suspicious Raji (Samantha,) who turns out to be a Srilankan rebel, leads to discovering the asassination plan and attack on the Prime Minister of India, Srikant must stop the plan at all costs.  The cast includes Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Akkineni, Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Devadarshini and more.
