Telugu filmmakers lately have been exploring new genres and coming up with new concepts. However, mythological movies and tales from our epics have always been audience favourite. One such movie is the Gunasekhar directorial, Samantha Akkineni and Dev Mohan starrer Shakuntalam.
Actor Dev Mohan was roped in to play the role of Dushyanta in Shakuntalam. This handsome hunk debuted in the film industry with the Malayalam movie Sufiyum Sujatayum. The actor began filming for Shakuntalam recently. When asked on how he is preparing for the role, he answered “ Shakuntalam has pure Telugu dialogues. I am learning the language with the help of the two assistant directors and Gunasekhar sir is helping me as well. I believe understanding the dialogues helps convey the emotion effectively.”
Dev Mohan revealed that he took up horse riding and sword fighting lessons to prepare for his role. He added that Gunasekhar wanted a toned look for his character and the actor focused on exercise and diet to get the desired look. He continued “this is a challenging role and I train whenever I am free to add my own spin to the character.” On working with Samantha, he stated “Samantha is a cool co star and humility is one of her strong points”.

Shakuntalam is a mythological drama movie based on the Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam written by the great poet Kalidasa. This movie is directed by Gunasekhar and produced by Neelima Guna. Music is by Mani Sharma.
