The pandemic in 2020 affected us in diverse ways, inhibiting our freedom to live normally. Everyone stepped into 2021 with high hopes to have a better year. Industries across started moving steadily, however the surge in Covid cases is still taking a toll. With many speculations circling around the state about the closure of theatres, the filmmakers gave some clarity yesterday.
In the light of new restrictions imposed by the Telangana Government, P. Vijendar Reddy, Secretary of Telangana State Film Chamber, announced a news on theatres closure yesterday. P. Vijendar Reddy in a recent media interaction said “ All theatres will be closed till the end of April. Keeping in mind the rapid spread of Covid cases everywhere, this decision is taken voluntarily by the film industry(sic.)” Further decision on reopening of theatres will be taken after evaluating the situation.

Furthermore, Telugu Film Producers Council announced that the film shooting shall take place only in emergency situations and the shooting will happen with a limited crew of 50 people following strict Covid 19 safety protocols. The official confirmation came as a shock to the small budget films that were scheduled to release this month. However, all the filmmakers released official statements announcing the postponement of their respective films.
