Following the blockbuster success of Mohanlal’s Malayalam film Drishyam 2, the director also announced the sequel in Telugu. Drushyam is the Telugu remake of the Malayalam Drishyam, which was made in 2013. Drushyam (2014 ) starred Daggubati Venkatesh, Meena and Nadhiya in the lead roles. After 8 years, the film is getting its sequel and the fans are excited. The sequel was announced recently after the release of Drishyam 2 starring Mohanlal, which released worldwide on Amazon Prime Video and has already garnered critical acclaim.
A sequel for Drushyam was announced immediately following the successful release of Drishyam 2, which has Venkatesh Daggubati reprising his role as Rambabu. It was also announced that Jeethu Joseph, who directed the Malayalam versions would be helming the Telugu remake. The prequel Drushyam, was however directed by Sripriya and with Jeethu Joseph stepping in to direct the sequel, multiple questions were raised as to why Sripriya was being replaced.

Suresh Babu, who produced Drushyam, said Jeethu Joseph was the original choice to direct the first part of the Telugu remake of Drishyam. Suresh Babu also said since Jeethu Joseph had other commitments at the time and so they roped in Sripriya to direct the Telugu remake. Joseph has shown his interest to not miss out on the chance to direct the Telugu sequel and Venkatesh Daggubati.
Drushyam was considered one of the best thrillers of Indian cinema. The Telugu remake did extremely well at the box office and was lauded by critics and audience alike. The story of the film was based on a man who goes to great lengths to cover up the manslaughter committed by his wife and elder daughter. Eight years later, Drushyam 2 is coming back and fans are excited to see Rambabu on the silver screen once again.
