Panja Vaisshnav Tej and his debut movie Uppena which is setting the box office on fire with its exceptional opening run. Vaisshnav Tej could proudly say he has arrived well in style in Tollywood and could rest easy knowing that his performance as Aasi in Uppena is being loved by audiences. However, arriving in style is one thing and breaking industry records is another matter altogether. Ever since Uppena released in theaters, it is breaking long standing industry records for box office collections and the numbers are mind boggling.
Uppena released in theaters on February 12th, 2021 and in just five days managed to rake in a mind boggling INR 25.2 crores. Uppena is still pulling in full houses at movie theaters and the box office collections is a new record for debut actors in Tollywood. The previous record was held by Ram Charan and his debut movie Chirutha. Uppena managed to beat a slew of actors and some wonderful movies to achieve the current record. Vaisshnav Tej’s Uppena is way ahead of his competitors for the highest first day collections as well. Uppena raked in a whopping Rs. 9.12 crores on its opening day in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh combined. The previous record was held by Akkineni Akhil for his movie Jua which received Rs. 7.6 crores, on its first day. This is followed by Ram Charan with Chirutha earning Rs. 3.75 crores and Varun Tej with Mukunda which raked in Rs. 3.35 crores on its first day.
Uppena released in theaters on 12th February, 2021 and it stars Panja Vaisshnav Tej as the lead actor. Vaisshnav Tej is the latest scion from the family of Megastar Chiranjeevi to make his debut in Tollywood. Krithi Shetty is also making her debut as a lead actress in a Telugu movie. Earlier she worked in the Kannada and Tamil film industries. Uppena is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and has Vijay Sethupathi playing the role of the antagonist.
