Panja Vaisshnav Tej is the latest actor from the Mega family to make his acting debut and will be seen in the upcoming movie Uppena. Vaisshnav is currently the talk of the town as the trailer, the teaser and the songs for Uppena have received overwhelming positive response. However, while Vaisshnav might be making his acting debut in a big budget movie, acting was not always the first choice for him although he hails from a family who have made their names with acting.
Vaisshnav appeared at a press meet where he spoke quite candidly about his experiences which led him to begin a career in acting. Talking about how he grew up watching movies of Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan, Vaisshnav said “When I saw them acting and dancing on-screen, it would be an amazing feeling. Not just them, I would even go the theatres to catch the first day first show of films for actors like Mahesh Babu because I like cinema. But despite hailing from this family, it never occurred to me that I could be a part of the film fraternity too (sic.)”

However, while growing up Vaisshnav Tej wrestled with the idea of choosing a career option and contemplated choosing between becoming a director, a photographer, jewelry designer and even a 3D designer. Vaisshnav also considered joining the Indian Army and to that end began working out and lost a lot of weight. It was at this point movie offers began to flow in for the young actor. Vaisshnav said “But when I lost weight to pursue a career in the Army, I started getting offers for films. I even turned them down, but it was Chiranjeevi mama and Kalyan mama who encouraged me to pursue acting (sic.)”
Vaisshnav Tej considers himself very lucky as it is hard for someone outside the movie fraternity to land a leading role on their debut. Vaisshnav Tej said “As a child, I acted in Johnny, I only did it because Kalyan mama likes my eyes and he promised me toys in return. For Shankar Dada too, I sat on my grandpa’s chair and did what was asked of me. The same goes for Andarivadu. It’s only recently that I understood how lucky I feel to have gotten this opportunity (sic.)”
Panja Vaisshnav Tej’s Uppena is all set to release in theaters on February 12th, 2021.
