While the number of daily cases and the mortality rate of COVID-19 has gone down in India, it does not mean that the virus is reaching its end. The Indian Government undertook the biggest COVID-19 vaccination drive in the world as multiple pharmaceutical organizations have developed vaccines against the deadly virus. However, the virus still continues to affect the population and celebrities are no exception.
Kollywood Star Suriya Sivakumar, who is known for his brilliant acting skills is the latest celebrity to contract the virus. Suriya took to his social media handles to let everyone know he tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Suriya is currently under the care of medical professionals and urged everyone it is important not to give into fear.

Suriya joins a long list of celebrities who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Tollywood’s Ram Charan and Varun Tej were the latest celebrities to have been diagnosed with the virus and make a successful recovery.
On the work front, Suriya was last seen in the Sudha Kongara directorial multilingual film Soorarai Pottru, which released in November 2020. The movie which directly released on Amazon Prime Video and received rave reviews from critics, audiences and celebrities alike. Many of those reviews called it Suriya’s best performance till date. Soorarai Pottru had Suriya in the lead role and told the story of Captain Gopinath, the man who founded the low cost airlines Air Deccan and made air travel affordable for the common man in India.
