S.P. Balasubramaniam was admitted to the MGM Hospital in Chennai on August 5th, 2020 when he tested positive for COVID-19. Since then, his condition has slowly deteriorated and SPB had to be put on a ventilator. Although the legendary singer tested negative for the COVID-19 virus, he succumbed to post COVID complications and passed away.
S.P. Balasubramanyam’s latest honour will bring a smile to the faces of millions of fans across India. SPB even holds a Guinness Record for the most number of songs sung by an artist and is only fitting that he was conferred with India’s second highest civilian honour for his outstanding contribution to Indian music.
