Megastar Chiranjeevi will be acting next in the Telugu remake of the critically popular Malayalam movie, Lucifer. The political drama will be directed by Mohan Raja. On Wednesday, January 20, the Telugu remake of Lucifer was officially launched with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad.
Director Mohan Raja, who is making a comeback to Tollywood after Hanuman Junction, doesn’t quite like the word remake though. The director said in an interview, “While Mohanlal and Chiranjeevi are both superstars, they’re completely different actors. We’ve improvised quite a bit to suit Chiranjeevi’s image. It will be more like an adaptation than a remake (sic.)”
Speaking about working with Chiranjeevi for the film, Director Mohan Raja said, “What makes it all the more special is that my father (Editor Mohan) had produced Hitler in 1997 and I had assisted him on sets. I’ve been a fan of Chiranjeevi since back then so it feels like life has turned a full circle (sic.)”

Speculations are rife that Nayanthara would be the leading lady of the film. Reacting to the ongoing speculations, the director said, “The film has just been launched and talks are still in progress. It’s too early to reveal any details, it’ll take us a little time to finalise the cast and crew. We will make an official announcement soon. For now, I’m just looking forward to starting shooting (sic.)”
The Telugu remake of Lucifer will be bankrolled jointly by Ram Charan and N.V. Prasad under Konidela Productions and NVR Cinema. Music composer S.S. Thaman will compose the tunes for the Lucifer Telugu remake.
